The New Jersey Department of Health has been a proponent of strict inspection procedures for shellfish harvesting since the inception of the FDA program in the mid 40's.

 Boulevard Clams has been a certified clam dealer (NJ 12 SS) since 1979. Our current license allows us to legally buy shellfish directly from diggers, and also to ship these shellfish across state lines. Our license was issued in accordance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Interstate Certified Shellfish Shippers List (ICSSL).

 What these rigid inspections guarantee is that every piece of shellfish harvested by local diggers is recorded as to the time, place, and type of shellfish caught. This information is kept on record by the dealer and subject to inspection at any time by authorities.

 When this product is reshipped, a shellfish certificate (tag) must be placed on every single container containing shellfish. Restaurants and receivers of shellfish are required by law to keep these tags on the opened container until empty, and thereafter for a period of ninety days.
