The Lightkeeper's House

This house stood just oceanward of the lighthouse and was built in 1889.
It was reclaimed by the sea in about 1917.

The Oceanic Hotel

This hotel stood at 4th Street and Central Avenue until it, too, was claimed by the sea in about 1917.
It was built between 1878 and 1880 and had a capacity of 350 persons.
This view is looking towards the northeast.

The Sunset Hotel

The Sunset Hotel sat at the western end of 4th Street where it met the bay, just one block from the Oceanic.
It was built as the Sans Souci about the same time as her sister hotel on the ocean, but it only had a capacity of 150.
The sunset views from the porches of this elegant Victorian hotel must have been truly magnificent!

The Sunset Hotel burned to the ground in 1932 while under the proprietorship of Captain Dick Myers.
